Interview

I'm so happy to be featured here, on the wonderful blog A Studio with a View!  If you haven't read Stephanie's other wonderful artist interviews, I wholeheartedly recommend that you browse her archives (and stop by her wonderful Etsy shop).  I'd love it if you would pop over and read my interview!

Also, I've been seeing some lovely, crafty necklaces here and here, and just had to make one of my own.  Of course, it didn't hurt that I have a large bowl of vintage buttons I've been dying to use!

Just string them (I used white cotton crochet thread) and tie a loop at one end to use as a fastener.  Definitely simple!

I hope you aren't allergic to cats

Yesterday was a great day for my two kitties because their order from this Etsy shop arrived.  Two catnip mats sewn from the cutest fabrics ever (I couldn't resist the German on the pink one!) and a lavender pillow, too.

It didn't take long (um, 2 minutes?) for the catnip-induced craziness to begin.

It looks like this cat isn't the only one who likes to intrude on Wedgewood sweater photography.  Well, the sleeves have been knit and attached.  Now the tricky paisley pattern is about to begin!

Okay, enough with the cats!

I've been in NYC...

I've spent the last five days in New York, having the best time ever.
*Sigh*
I miss living in a gigantic city.
*Sigh*
But at least I can get back to my knitting!

Cozy Mug Cozy Knitting Pattern

In this spirit of warm beverage knitting patterns, here's another.  Knit in the same Pakucho organic cotton yarn so you can make a matching set if you like!

You will need a small amount of Pakucho yarn (or another worsted weight yarn) and US 8/5mm straight needles.

1. CO 44 stitches, leaving a tail of yarn to use for sewing later.
2. Work in seed stitch until your piece measures about 3.75 inches (9.5 cm) long.
3. Bind off and cut your yarn, leaving a tail long enough for sewing.
4. Fold your work in half and sew just the matching corners together.  This way you can slip           your mug handle through the opening.

That's it!  Just a note, my mug measured about 11.75 inches (30 cm) around at the widest part. If your mug is much larger or smaller you will need to add or subtract stitches.

Hello hello

I discovered this new yarn at my LYS over the weekend, it's made from cotton leftover from the textile industry.  I really like it.

I think the light color will become a little cardigan from this pattern book...

I'll use the blue skien to make a spontaneous project or two.  Also, I'm working on another quick knitting pattern to post soon!

Coffee Sleeve Knitting Pattern

I whipped up a quick knitting pattern this week... a coffee sleeve made from Pakucho organic cotton yarn.

You need a small amount of Pakucho organic cotton yarn (or another worsted weight or aran yarn) and US 8/5mm double pointed needles.

1. CO 36 stitches. Place marker and join for working in the round.
2. Work in 2x2 ribbing (K2, P2, repeat to end) for 20 rows. Your sleeve should measure about 3 inches/7.5 cm.
3. Bind off.

Ok, so that's really simple! And it works great because the 2x2 ribbing is stretchy to adjust to different cup sizes.
