This seems so easy to me, yet I'm completely lost after creating the point of the heart... So you work the 3 double crochets into the first chain, then chain 1, triple crochet into that chain or still into the first chain? And then chain 1 again??

If I'm doing that correctly, what I am doing wrong after this? Do you work the next set of 3 double crochets into that last chain you created or into the first original chain? I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but mine looks completely awful. :(

Rachel March 14, 2012 at 11:44 AM

JFK -
Let's see if I can help you out! for the point of the heart you work 3 double crochets into the first chain, then you chain 1. Work 1 triple crochet into the same first chain you've been working in the whole time (not the ch 1 you just made - this ch 1 is simply worked because the length of the triple crochet is taller than the double crochets you made before, so the extra ch 1 on each side helps it fit). After the triple crochet, ch 1. Then work 3 double crochets into the same first chain you've been working in the entire time - all of your crochets are worked in that very first chain stitch : )

Hi Rachel,
I just came across this tutorial on Pintrest, and immediately busted out some yarn and needles. Now, I'm TOTALLY new to crochet (which is why this seemed like the perfect little project for me!) so I do have a question. How do I actually finish the heart? I mean, after the slip stitch. How do I tie off the yarn? I realize this is probably really a stupid question, but I tried looking online for some tips, and didn't find anything. :(
