Knitting Mitred Squares

I'm experimenting with knitting some mitred squares (or mitered squares... I've seen a lot of both spellings).  I started with one pattern I found online but it involved a lot of counting stitches, which is quite annoying, and the end result was really just decreasing two stitches at the center point.  So I'm basically doing something similar with a stitch marker to save me from all that counting, plus an easier decrease.

I love how the squares look using stripey sock yarn!
